Description
RED MAPLE
Red Maple, named for the characteristic red fall color of the leaves, naturally occurs in average to wet soils but is adaptable to a wide variety of conditions. This fast growing native tree flowers early in spring and then drops samaras, seeds with wings, to the ground in summer providing a food source for birds and mammals. Maples have high wildlife value, supporting almost 300 species of Lepidoptera.
