Our Story
Gino’s Nursery is located in Newtown, PA, was founded in 2012 by our owner Nicholas Damato. What began as a small, family run nursery with about 10 species of native plants has turned into a large retail and wholesale production operation, growing over 400 species of native plants and native plant cultivars across 12 production greenhouses.
Our nursery was founded on the basis of sustainability and environmental activism, believing that through community engagement and raising awareness for native plants, that we could be a voice for change and create a better future. All of our plants are grown with organic practices without the use of synthetic fertilizers or harsh chemicals to ensure that we are protecting our environment and bolstering our local pollinator and wildlife populations. Our inventory is constantly changing and expanding to provide the community with the plants they need to support a healthy and thriving ecosystem in their backyards.
About 85-90% of the plants we sell are grown at the nursery, totalling over 23,000 plants across a growing season. About 17% of the plants we grow are sourced from local seed, grown, and propagated in the nursery. It is our goal to continue to expand our seed collection and in-house propagation to continue to provide local native ecotypes and ensure genetic diversity.
We currently service a wide area throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including Southeastern PA (Bucks County, Montgomery County, Chester County, Delaware County, and Philadelphia) and New Jersey (Hunterdon County, Mercer County, and Burlington County), with our customer base and community growing every day.
