Description

The heart shaped foliage of Blue Wood Aster emerges in spring and then the flower stalks arise to bear their lovely blue flowers in fall. Aster cordifolius is a dependable late season source of pollen and nectar and also serves as larval host to butterflies and moths including the Silvery Checkerspot and Pearl Crescent.
