Description
In spring this native beauty is resplendent with thin white petalled flowers who release a lovely fragrance. Growing in full to part sun, Fringetree prefers average to moist soil conditions. Female trees bear dark blue olive-like fruits in fall which songbirds enjoy. A food source for pollinators and a larval host to 10 species of butterflies and moths, Chionanthus virginicus is a special addition to the landscape.
