ELYMUS HYSTRIX

A lovely grass at home in the woodlands, Elymus hystrix grows in full shade to part shade in a wide range of soil conditions, including the difficult situation of dry shade. The unique seed heads resembling bottle brushes are perhaps best appreciated highlighted when sun is low in the sky and dark shade provides backdrop. In favorable conditions, this grass will self seed.
