Description
‘MARYLAND SPREADER’ HOLLY
This compact evergreen shrub grows in well drained soils in full sun to part shade. Maryland Spreader has glossy, spined foliage and bright red berries and forms a wide mounding groundcover. Birds relish the berries in winter. Ilex opaca hosts 44 species of butterflies and moths including Polyphemus and Pawpaw Sphinx.
