Description
BIGTOOTH ASPEN
Bigtooth Aspen is a fast growing deciduous tree, a pioneer species spreading by root suckers. Preferring full to part sun, this Populus typically grows in dry soils and is also tolerant of moist conditions. The flat leaf stalk causes their lovely fluttering in the wind. Foliage turns yellow to orange red in fall. A great early season pollen source, this ecologically valuable native tree is larval host to 331 species of butterflies and moths in our area.
