NORTHERN RED OAK

Northern Red Oak can be moderate to fast growing, appreciating full sun in average to dry conditions. A popular shade tree, this native has good form, dense foliage, and reddish brown color in fall. Acorns provide food to birds and mammals. Oaks host more than 500 species of moths and butterflies. Quercus rubra is valued for its rich pinkish red heartwood.
