Description

Staghorn Sumac is the largest native sumac, growing with a vigorous spreading habit to form thickets. Known for the bright red fruit clusters and attractive red, orange, and yellow foliage color in fall, the name comes the velvety hairs that grow on the branches like the velvet that covers a stag’s horn. Sumacs are larval host to 55 species of butterflies and moths.
