Purple Knockout is prized for beautiful burgundy glossy foliage that turns red in autumn and is semi evergreen. Blue flowers in late spring attract pollinators and butterflies and birds eat the seeds. If Salvia lyrata is happy she spreads by seeds and she seems to enjoy the company of other native low growers like sedges.
