Description
NEW YORK IRONWEED
This tall robust native grows happily in full sun and moist to wet soils and is bedecked with purple flowers in late summer. Butterflies, moths, and many native bees flock to the flowers. Vernonia novaboracensis is larval host to 19 species of butterflies and moths in our area and seedheads feed birds.
