Gino’s Nursery is a native plant nursery located in Newtown, PA that has been operating for over 12 years. Gino’s has 12 production greenhouses that house over 20,000 plants annually, totalling over 400 native plant species. Gino’s is focused on environmentally friendly and sustainable horticulture practices. We grow our plants organically without the use of chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. We hope to find a candidate that is interested in learning more about native plants and assisting us in both our retail and production spaces!
Gino’s Nursery is seeking a Part-Time Nursery Assistant to work primarily on Sundays with another 1-2 days/week on a flexible schedule. Duties include management of our retail sales area on Sundays, including managing our Square POS system, handling cash, watering, weeding, general maintenance of the retail area, interacting with customers, fielding native plant and horticulture related questions, assisting with our ongoing plant orders, etc. This position could also include 1-2 days assistance in our production area. Duties there include weeding, watering, transplanting, and other general greenhouse maintenance tasks in coordination with our Production Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Work regularly and reliably on Sundays
Bend, kneel, or squat for extended periods of time
Work outdoors in various weather conditions
Have a productive and positive energy
Operate as part of a team and independently
Willingness to learn
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Strong communication and customer service skills
Retail sales experience
Knowledge / passion for native plants
Plant identification / knowledge of scientific names
Background in horticulture or related field
